Promising Debut Winner for Acrobat

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 24

A very heavy track at New Plymouth in New Zealand on Saturday did not dampen the potential of promising juvenile King of the Air, who made a winning debut to become the second winner for his young sire Acrobat.

Trained by Stephen Marsh, King of the Air made light work of the testing conditions to power away and win the 1200m by nearly three lengths over the race favourite.

Foaled in Australia at Fairhill Farm, he was bred and retained to race by Demi O’Byrne and John Halley.

King of the Air is the first foal of Lady of the Falls, a half-sister by Sacred Falls to Group I BRC Queensland Derby winner Kukeracha and Group III winner Cameo.

The second foal of Lady of the Falls is another colt by Acrobat that made $115,000 for Fairhill Farm when sold at the Inglis Weanling Sale last year to Shane McGrath Bloodstock.

Lady of the Falls was covered again last year by Acrobat, who has seven yearlings for Inglis Classic and four for Inglis Premier.
