Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 27

There were four heats at the Randwick trials on Tuesday won by juveniles and if you’re looking for some insight into Saturday week’s Inglis Millennium then take a look at the trial win of Profitabelle.

Third on debut to Knightsbridge at Randwick at the start of the month when she got a long way out of her ground and charged to the line, Profitabelle was given both an education and a hit out in winning her 1050m trial against older horses.

She travelled back in the field for Regan Bayliss and when angled into clear running let down well to win with ears pricked, so a good experience that will see her confidence sky high when she goes back to race day.

Another possible Inglis Millennium contender that did not win his heat against older horses, but did enough to warrant respect was the Chris Waller trained Snitzel colt Fireball, who won on debut at Rosehill in November. He tuned up in a 740m heat and was a close third with James McDonald on board.

Michael Freedman has had good success for Emirates Park and is the trainer of their talented homebred Tassort filly Naadra, who led all the way for Tommy Berry to win this 740m scamper at her second trial.

Naadra is a half-sister to stakes-placed Naifah from winning Snitzel mare Najmah, a half-sister to dual Group I winner Charm Stone and stakes-winner Najmaty from Group III winner Najoom. It's a family for fast fillies that has been well nurtured by Emirates Park.

Michael Freedman also won the following heat with blueblood Extreme Choice filly Celestial Charm, who was always under a good hold and doing her best work through the line for Sam Clipperton to win by a long neck.

A $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from Newgate, Celestial Charm is a sister to speedy filly Esha and is the fourth foal of Group I winning I Am Invincible mare I Am a Star.

Additional winner was: Jourama (Frosted ).
