When a mare is in form, there’s no reason to shy away, and Saturday’s G3 ATC Triscay Stakes (1200m) win of Joe Pride’s Lonhro mare Weeping Woman was her fourth win in a row, including consecutive black type victories.
Fast away with Tim Clark in the saddle, the 5yo went forward to lead with the Michael Freedman trained Justify (USA) mare Just Feelin’ Lucky sitting on her outside keeping her company.

Back on the rail in fourth position getting a cosy run was the G1-winning Tassort mare Manaal who was scratched from the G2 Expressway Stakes earlier in the day to contest the Triscay Stakes.
With the favourite leading into the home turn, ears pricked, Weeping Woman always looked if she was going to be hard to beat from that point on.
Fighting off Just Feelin’ Lucky with 200m to run, Manaal came along the rail to finish in second, just ahead of Gary Portelli’s fast-finishing G3 winner Verona Rose who came from towards the tail of the field.
“Nash got off her the other day and said she is going to win a really nice race at some stage,” said pride post-race. “It wasn't Nash's job to steer her today but I think Tim probably realised he was warming the saddle because Nash will get back on. A nice problem to have. Jockeys fighting over a horse.”
“A nice mare to state the obvious. Keeps winning. A great racing pattern. Makes her own luck. Just keeps getting better.
“Had planned to take her to the Wenona Girl. She will probably sneak in one more race at this level and then probably have to go into something better.
“Looks like she is capable of going onto something better. A nice situation to be in. Interesting to see at some point if she can run beyond 1200m. I think she will.”
Riding her for the first time, Clarke was quite complimentary on the effort of the mare.
"She's a beautiful mare,” said Clark. “I got a bit lucky getting on her with a light weight but you've got to take those opportunities when they come your way.”
“She is obviously building a really good record and is just so easy to ride - she is real push button.
“She sprung the lids and was just able to control it - it hasn't been a bad place to be today."
“She quickened up really well. Nash [Rawiller] said that she pins the ears back and tries really hard so she doesn't need a lot of stick. She is really game and gives 100%. She is a nice mare going places.”

With eight wins and five placings from 17 starts and $585,450 in earnings, the Triscay Lodge Stakes victory will add a second black type victory update to her Pinatubo (IRE) half-sister who will sell through Widden Stud’s Inglis Premier draft as Lot 571.
Bred by Mr Ian Cornell, Weeping Woman was foaled and raised at Widden Stud and is the fourth winner and first stakes winner out of the Street Cry mare Cries And Whiskers, a half-sister to the Listed winners Global Warming and Pure Purrfection (dam of Listed winners Barbie’s Sister and Outback Barbie).
Cries And Whiskers is also the dam of the six-time winner, Listed placed Magnatear, while there has been no further mare return after foaling her Pinatubo filly last year.
Weeping Woman is one of 100 stakes winners for Darley’s Champion Racehorse and Champion Sire Lonhro, also the sire of 14 individual G1 winners.
