Greg Polson previews Tamworth Friday August 11

Greg Polson - Friday August 11

On pace runners are generally advantaged wherever horses race but they have an extra head start at Tamworth with horses that settled in the first two in running at their latest outing winning 29 per cent of races.

With the national average sitting at 27 per cent across all track, distances and conditions it is a huge advantage for punters to know that if they can find a horse at Tamworth that can race on the speed and has the credentials to win the respective race they are a long way towards showing a profit.

Two Cody Morgan-trained gallopers who raced on the speed to win at their latest start look set for back to back wins at Tamworth on Friday.

The former Victorian I Am You Are was formerly trained in Victoria by Logan McGill and finished runner-up in two of his six career starts at Cranbourne and Mornington before heading North to enter the Morgan Stable at Tamworth.

I Am You Are could not have been more impressive winning at Tamworth at his first NSW start leading all the way to win by over two-lengths running the fastest of four 1000m races on the day.

I Am You Are hasn't raced for 48-days but has been kept up to the mark with a Scone trial win on July 14 and rates as the day's best bet at Tamworth on Friday in the FSDP Class 2 Handicap (1000m).

His stablemate Mr Pumblechook will be striving for successive wins in the Allsopp Signs Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m) after a comfortable on-pace victory at over 1200m at Tamworth last time out.

Mr Pumblechook has to step up to 1400m on Friday for the first time but has always raced like the trip will suit and is likely to get a soft lead on Friday giving him every chance to run the trip out strongly.
