New Group Three Winner for Aquis Shuttler

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 24
Aquis shuttler Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) has had stakes-winners in every racing country in the world and was in the frame in Canada on the weekend when Shahroze captured the Grade III Singspiel Stakes at Woodbine.

Holy Roman EmperorTrained by Graham Motion, the lightly raced four year-old produced a career best performance to win the 1/12 mile turf feature by two lengths, his third win from just eight starts and first in a Black Type race.

Shahroze was last in the early stages of the race, but kicked it into another gear down the center of the track and raced right away from his rivals for a very impressive victory in near track-record time.

"Today he was very impressive," said winning rider Alan Garcia.

"He broke well and then was squished out of there and then was last and saved all the ground. When we came turning for home, I said, 'Let me go wide' because I have plenty of horse and then he did his job."

Shahroze was bred by the Aga Khan and is raced by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners & Head of Plains Partners LLC.

He is the 74th stakes-winner for Holy Roman Emperor and is a half-brother to Group II winner Shamreen from Group III winning Bahri mare Shareen.

Holy Roman Emperor returns to Aquis in Queensland this spring at a fee of $9,900, a fee that looks remarkably good value when you consider his 12 yearlings sold this year have averaged $100,500.
