There were four heats over 900m for juveniles at Rosehill on Monday morning and we saw a number of youngsters with Golden Slipper aspirations including one time Magic Millions 2YO Classic favourite Paradoxium.
The Bjorn Baker trained son of Extreme Choice was an impressive winner of the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic in December, but then suffered a bout of travel sickness when sent to the Gold Coast.
This was his first trial since then and Paradoxium is clearly back on track with a strong display of speed under Jason Collett to win by four and a half lengths.
There is still time for him to make the Golden Slipper field, but he’ll need to be winning one of the lead up races as his Wyong MM prizemoney will not be counted. In a very open year with no dominant juveniles, I can see Paradoxium not just getting to the grand final, but going well!
Running a slightly slower time was Paradoxium’s stablemate Rachini and the Zoustar filly looked good in her second trial for Bjorn Baker after a debut fifth in a Listed race last spring in Melbourne for Leon and Troy Corstens.
Also keep a good eye on the second filly Leonessa, second trial and both of them very nice for this Chris Waller trained daughter of Snitzel in the B2B Thoroughbreds colours.
Rachini has a full brother that will be offered at Inglis Premier by The Chase as Lot 245.
Tassort filly Agrarian Girl won the Listed ATC Lonhro Plate on debut in fast time for the Waterhouse Bott stable and had a tick over trial here. She led and skipped along with her ears pricked and looked to thoroughly enjoy herself in scoring a soft win for Tim Clark.
Second filly Satin Serenade also interesting for a first look. A homebred for Belinda Bateman prepared by Chris Waller, she’s a Frankel filly (First foal) from Satin Ribbons, a metro winning Capitalist half-sister to SW Satin Slipper from G2 Silver Slipper winner Satin Shoes.
Fourth heat was won by another Bjorn Baker trained youngster with Trapeze Artist colt Artaneous appearing for the first time since his sixth on debut last spring in the G3 Breeders Plate. He was ridden with intent to win his heat, while Tornado Valley, who was second in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic was given a quiet roll around finishing midfield.
Expensive Dundeel colt Power Broker found the line well in his first outing and is bred for further being from G1 Thousand Guineas winner Stay With Me, a daughter of the late great Miss Finland.
