Ghaiyyath Colt Sells for $520,000

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 1

With top class Ghaiyyath (IRE) colt Observer stamping his class on the Group I VRC Australian Guineas at Flemington on Saturday it didn’t require a crystal ball to predict yearlings by his sire would be popular at Inglis Premier.

Early into the ring on Sunday morning was Lot 19, a strong athletic colt by Ghaiyyath from Dom Perion that was offered by Stonehouse Thoroughbreds and sold to Lindsay Park Racing / Dean Hawthorne Bloodsock  for $520,000.

The handsome bay is a half-brother to four winners highlighted by Extra Brut, who won the Group I VRC Victoria Derby, a race also won by Observer last spring.

The result continues a great run of success Stonehouse Thoroughbreds have enjoyed with his dam Dom Perion having previously sold colts at this sale from her in past years by Toronado (IRE) and Domesday for $460,000 and $380,000.

Ryan Arnel from Stonehouse Thoroughbreds was thrilled with the sale.

“He’s a true Derby style of colt and is by the right stallion at the right time and I think he will have every chance,” Arnel said.

By champion sire Redoute’s Chocie from an international female family, Dom Perion had a filly last spring by Ghaiyyath and was then covered by Russian Camelot (IRE).

A champion son of Dubawi, Ghaiyyath has 17 entries for Inglis Premier.
