Tenth 2YO Winner for Denman

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 4
Denman is not the highest profile son of Lonhro standing in the Hunter Valley this spring, but he is the most successful in terms of two year-old winners siring his tenth juvenile winner on Wednesday with a Sandown victory for promising filly Humma Humma.

DenmanThe John McArdle trained filly was thrown in the deep end at her first start finishing second in the Listed SAJC Cinderella Stakes back in March behind Krone and was having her first run back from a spell. In the open fillies event over 1000 metres.

She surged home late to win by a length in an encouraging performance.

"She's still got plenty of physical improvement to come and mental improvement," said John McArdle.

"When she learns how to race she's going to be a nice filly. There were some nice first starters from good stables in that race, so for her to win was a good indication."

An $80,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Redgum Racing from the Flinders Park Stud draft, Huma Humma is the second winner from Humma Mumma, a metropolitan winning half-sister by Bel Esprit to stakes-winner Vignette.

A Group I winning son of Lonhro, Denman stands at the affordable fee of $8,800 this spring at Darley NSW. He has sired over 100 winners this season of more than $5.2 million including three stakes-winners
