G1 Winning Redoute's Choice Stallion on gavelhouse.com

Media Release - Friday July 27

A Group One winning son of champion sire Redoute's Choice has a nice ring to it and farms looking for a late addition to their stallion rosters can secure those credentials in recently retired Derby winning entire Howard Be Thy Name.

Howard Be Thy Name as a yearlingA well credentialed individual, Howard Be Thy Name boasts a quality pedigree not only as a son of sire sensation Redoute's Choice but also courtesy of his maternal line with his dam the Group 2 winner Bellini Rose. This is a successful, stallion producing, family which boasts high class sire Darci Brahma, young gun Burgundy and the likes of outstanding race mares Grand Echezeaux, Ethereal, Richebourg, etc.

"Trained by Darren Weir throughout his career, Howard Be Thy Name won from 1600-2500m and is an athletic, kind horse with a pedigree which will complement the southern hemisphere pool of broodmares," commented Russell Warwick, who is fielding enquiries about the young stallion prospect.

The winner of 5 of his 23 starts, Howard Be Thy Name was seldom out of the money during his career, including not finishing worse than third in his first 12 starts, and retires with stake earnings of more than A$615,000.

His crowning moment was victory in the Gr.1 Australasian Derby which came off the back of lead up victories in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas and Gr.3 Chairman's Stakes with that preparation then extending to Queensland where he finished third in the Gr.3 Grand Prix and then fourth in the Gr.1 Queensland Derby having been slow out of the gates and making up good ground.

Also featured in the auction are 21 other Lots including racehorses, empty and in foal mares and two stallion covers.
