Daily Debutants

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 8
Fastnet Rock has already had an impressive debut blueblood winner this week in More Sundays and may well have another at Canterbury today if the full sister to Group I winner Catchy has a fraction of her big sister’s ability.

Symi as a yearlingPrepared by Team Hawkes, three year-old Symi showed at her most recent trial she was ready for the races when powering home well for a close second although has no easy ask as she is kicking off in a Benchmark 69 event in which most of the fillies have already won a race.

A $700,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for renowned Sydney owner Alan Bell, Symi is a full sister to $1.9 million earner and Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy as well as three other winners.

Her dam Cats Whisker, a Group II winning daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) has the perfect record of four foals to race all winners and all are by Fastnet Rock.

Coolmore sold the now two year-old Fastnet Rock colt from Cats Whisker at Inglis Easter this year for $500,000 and there is a yearling filly to follow by Pierro.

The race is at 2.30pm.
