Irish Stakes-Winners for Coolmore Favourites

Tara Madgwick - Friday August 31
Coolmore favourites Fastnet Rock and Choisir featured overnight in Ireland with smart stakes-winners at Tipperary.

Fastnet RockLightly raced four year-old Fastnet Rock mare One Master claimed her second stakes win when taking out the Group III Fairy Bridges Stakes over 7 ½ f by half a length with Colm O'Donoghue in the saddle.

Trained by William Haggas, One Master is a progressive type and took her record to three wins from just seven starts and has never run worse than fourth.

"I spoke to James Doyle and Ryan Moore last night and they were very complimentary of the filly," said O'Donoghue.

"They said to ride her cold as she'd finish off the race good and ground and trip wasn't a problem. She hit the line strong."

A homebred for Lael Stable, she is the best of three winners from Group III winning Pivotal mare Enticing, a daughter of Champion 2YO Filly Superstar Leo.

Three year-old Choisir filly Blue Uluru is a pure speedster and led throughout to win the five furlong Listed Abergwaun Stakes by three-quarters of a length.

ChoisirTrained by Ger Lyons, Blue Uluru has won five of 12 starts with the prospect of more wins in store.

"Blue Uluru doesn't get six at the minute. She's very fast and idles in front, but she's all speed and that's a very valuable commodity at the moment. If she can grow a bit we could have a very good sprinter on our hands for next year," said Ger Lyons.

The 91st stakes-winner for Choisir, Blue Uluru is the best of eight winners from Lady of Beauty, a half-sister to leading US sire Distorted Humor.

Fastnet Rock and Choisir are both fit and ready for spring at Coolmore Australia, the former standing for fee on application and the latter at $29,700.
