Promising Colt for Redoute’s Choice

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 5
Champion sire Redoute's Choice featured at Randwick on Wednesday when his progressive colt Brilliant Choice cast off maiden status with a bold front running win for Team Hawkes.

Brilliant Choice as a yearlingSecond and then third at his first two starts at Canterbury and Warwick Farm last month, Brilliant Choice was fitted with blinkers and stepped up to 1400 metres for his third throw at the stumps and led all the way for Tommy Berry to score by half a length.

"His first start was good and then he got a bit lost at Warwick Farm," said Michael Hawkes.

"We decided to go to the front with him and let him find the rail. It was D day for him and he's put the best foot forward."

A $600,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft for Hawkes Racing, Brilliant Choice runs for a big syndicate of stable clients including Vinery Stud.

A colt with a big pedigree, he is a half-brother to stakes-winner Siwa Lady and Group III placed Diamond Oasis and is the fifth winner from Siwa (GB), a half-sister by Green Desert to Group II winner Flying Cloud from the family of Golden Slipper winner and Champion First and Second Season Sire Pierro.

Siwa has a yearling colt by Not a Single Doubt and was covered last spring by Snitzel.
