Father Son Bloodstock Duo Join Forces

In an exciting move for the Mitchell family, Bill and James have joined forces to form Mitchell Bloodstock.

Bill Mitchell retired from training in 2006 having won 11 Group I races including the VRC Derby, Epsom Handicap, Flight Stakes, Newmarket Handicap and both the Australian and Caulfield Guineas. He commenced his role as racing manager for Segenhoe Stud in 2011.

"I'll continue to work for Segenhoe and still purchase on behalf of our existing client base alongside James," said Bill Mitchell.

Bill has signed for the likes of Sister Madly , a winner of the G2 Salinger Stakes and Custard who is the dam of Stakes winners Serene Majesty and Curdled . Recent yearling purchases include one of Hong Kong's most exciting sprinters Beat The Clock and $1.3 million earner Voodoo Lad a Scone sale purchase for a modest $36,000.

"The industry keeps going from strength to strength with prize money better than ever and new investors looking to get into the market. We see opportunities at all levels and look forward to sourcing quality bloodstock and providing an all-round service for our clients," Bill Mitchell commented.

James was the recipient of the 2011 Inglis Bloodstock Internship and leaves Inglis after seven years of service in the bloodstock department.

"Inglis are great operators, my seven years with the company provided a solid foundation and I'm looking forward to this new chapter as we focus on building Mitchell Bloodstock. We're excited to work together and look forward to being active at the sales and facilitating private sales for years to come," James Mitchell concluded.
