Promising Snitzel Winners at Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 3
Gerald Ryan does love a Snitzel and Mansa Musa looks to have well above average ability, despite his lack of appeal when offered for sale as a yearling.

SnitzelThree year-old Mansa Musa was a debut winner at Gosford on September 6 and kept up the good work at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with a tenacious half neck win in the Benchmark 64 event after leading throughout.

A $75,000 Inglis Weanling purchase from the Luskin Park draft for Gainsborough Lodge / Pinhook Bloodstock, Mansa Musa was re-offered by Gainsborough Lodge at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale but failed to make his reserve of $200,000 so was retained.

Shin soreness hampered his progress last season, but Mansa Musa is clearly on an upward spiral now.

Bred by Luskin Park and partners, Mansa Musa is the third winner from three foals to race from One Sweet Day, a winning Elusive Quality (USA) grand-daughter of US Group I winner Race the Wild Wind, the dam of Group I winner King Charlemagne.

His victory brought up a double for Snitzel, whose three year-old gelding Orcein broke his maiden in the opening race for the Chris Waller stable.

A $360,000 Magic Millions purchase for Harras Syndicate/Mulcaster Bloodstock from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft, Orcein is the third winner from Group III winning Zabeel mare Zapurple.
