Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 23
A big set of trials at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning featured two heats for juveniles won by talented types sired by Sizzling and Fastnet Rock.

Blazing Miss as a yearlingMark Newnham would have been well pleased with his flashy chestnut Sizzling filly Blazing Miss , who parked deep for most of the trial and surged to the line under a hold to win the 807 metre gallop by three-quarters of a length in 48.50 seconds.

A $120,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Darby Racing / De Burgh Equine from the Newgate Farm draft, Blazing Miss is a half-sister to two smart winners Jahre, a well bred Encosta de Lago mare from the family of Champion South African Filly Laisserfaire and Australian Group winner such as A Time for Julia, Centennial Park and Almighty Girl.

Greg Hickman is the trainer of Eleven Eleven, a Fastnet Rock gelding with a big pedigree that he purchased for $230,000 at the Magic Millions from the Edinburgh Park draft.

Eleven Eleven was ridden quietly by Tommy Berry and allowed to find his feet back in the field before steaming home down the outside to score a long neck win in 49.03 seconds.

Eleven Eleven as a yearlingHe is the second foal of Smokin Alice (USA), who comes from a US family that has had incredible success in Australia. Her grand-dam Adarling, is also the grand-dam of celebrated producer Mica’s Pride, the dam of Group I stars Criterion and Comin’ Through, who is also by Fastnet Rock.

Fastnet Rock has achieved multiple stakes winners with this family such as Siege of Quebec, Bull Point, Upon This Rock and Amah Rock.

Connections will be hoping Eleven Eleven can add to the list.
