The top bets from The Armchair Punter for August 16

Stephen Brassel - Tuesday August 15

I'm keen to have a bet at both Canterbury and Sandown with my best being later in the day at the Sydney venue.

She's posh, she's a princess and come Wednesday I reckon she'll also be a winner.

SCHUBERT (Canterbury Race 2 No 4)
Hit the line strongly to win his maiden on the Beaumont track with subsequent winner Boston Lights third. Followed that up with a solid third behind Addictive Nature and another subsequent winner in Gold Standard over 1100m at Warwick Farm. Back to the trials since and under little pressure working home well for fourth at Randwick and I'm expecting they won't hold him out late.
BET: WIN
ODDS: $6 @ Bet365

PRINCESS POSH (Race 6 No 7)
Kicked off her last preparation with successive wins on the Beaumont track and judging by her recent trial she's primed to go fresh again. Followed the winning double last preparation with a Wyong placing in a Provincial Championship heat behind Noble Joey then finished off her second preparation with a midfield effort in the final behind Maryore over 1400m at Randwick. Reckon she's better over the shorter courses and in the Gosford trial cruised around to win her heat ears pricked. She'll go forward and prove very hard to catch.
BET: WIN
ODDS: $7 @ William Hill ($8.50 Price Pump)

ABERRO (Sandown Race 3 No 9)
Good effort when a close second to Eshtiraak in the Mornington Sires' before three weeks between runs and took on the silk in the Group I Champagne Stakes when midfield behind The Mission. That's good form for a midweek maiden at Sandown and has had the benefit of a recent Pakenham trial on the synthetic track when he cruised over the top of them to win under a hold. Drawn out and will need a little luck but on form looks too good for these.
BET: WIN
ODDS: $3.60 @ CrownBet
