Owner Trainer Relishing Gavelhouse Graduate Success

Media Release - Monday January 7

Christchurch based owner-trainer Taylor Burnett is enjoying reigniting the race careers of his gavelhouse purchases, his most recent success being five-year-old Heart of Fame's stylish win yesterday at Greymouth.

Heart of Fame - RAce ImagesHaving his third start since his purchase online in October 2018, the Towkay gelding successful broke maiden ranks in what was his 14th start.

With a wide draw from barrier 11, Tanya Jonker rode Heart of Fame forward where he looked to enjoy a little give in the ground. The pair led the field over the entire 1500m trip to win by a length and three-quarters.

"He always jumps well so we weren't worried about the wide draw," commented Burnett.

"He pulled up well and it was a bit of a trip home but he ate all his dinner."

"We will look to see how he pulls up at the end of this week but there's looks to be a nice race for him on the 15 January at Hokitika all going well."

Burnett has just two horses in training and both of which were bought off gavelhouse.com with the other, Gifted, also a winner. The Alamosa mare was purchased online in May last year from Wellfield Stud for $2,500 and has now earnt $11,750.

"It's great getting these older horses and turning them around, Gifted was the first winner for us and it has been extremely rewarding."
