More Mishani the merrier for Brisbane trainer

Buoyed by the unexpected first-up win of Mishani Bullitt, Brisbane trainer Chris Anderson likes the chances of another couple of Mishani horses at Doomben on Saturday.

Mishani Bullitt, who ran a cracking fourth in the Group I JJ Atkins during the Queensland winter carnival, returned in terrific fashion when the colt beat older horses at Doomben on Wednesday.

Anderson had feared that carrying 59kg against more seasoned and fitter horses would bring Mishani Bullitt undone.

But his fears were unfounded and the son of Show A Heart bounded away for an impressive win, with his campaign now being aimed towards the Group III Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill on September 23.

"We were at one stage thinking of the Caulfield Guineas but he is still only a baby, and mentally very immature, so we think Sydney might be a better option," Anderson said.

"And then of course there are the riches of the Magic Millions carnival to consider.

"I was so impressed by his win first-up because I thought carrying 59kg and resuming against older horses might find him half a run short."

Anderson has developed a winning association with high profile Queensland owner-breeder Mike Crooks, the owner of Mishani Farm near Beaudesert.

Crooks has a big team of horses under his Mishani Enterprises banner and Anderson thinks Mishani El Lobo and Mishani Sleuth can both win at Doomben on Saturday.

Mishani El Lobo will run in the Big Chop Benchmark75 Handicap (1050m), where he the $2.90 favourite, while Mishani Sleuth is $5.50 favourite in the Got It Covered Benchmark75 Handicap (1350m).

"I honestly can't split the pair for my best winning chance, I think both can win," Anderson said.

"Mishani Sleuth has come back better than ever and to be honest having a wide gate is not a negative for him.

"When he won first-up he had an awkward gate, which forced us to ride him conservatively and it seems he is better like that.

"Mishani El Lobo will be scratched from race one, to run in two race, and he has a great desire and will to win. I don't think we have seen the best of him yet."
