$800,000 for Redoute's Choice colt at Karaka

Mark Smith - Sunday January 27

The first foal of the Group 1 Galaxy Stakes winner Griante by the perennial sale ring favourite Redoute's Choice, set a new benchmark half-way through the opening session of the New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale when knocked down to Karaka Aquis Farm / Bester Bloodstock for $800,000.

Consigned by Cambridge Stud, the colt was bred by Cambridge Stud's Brendan and Jo Lindsay in association with Griante's breeder, owner and trainer David Brideoake.

"I've had a lot of luck buying in New Zealand and this colt would have made at least a million at the Gold Coast," Bester told Racenet's, Darryl Sherer.

"He's the right type of Redoutes, athletic, not too big and he's out of a Group One winner.

"He's for a colts syndicate being put together by Aquis Farm so we'll get him home and break him in before we decide on a trainer."
