Hot Classic Yearlings from Rheinwood

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 6
'Bred in the Cold , Hot on the Track' - it's time to check out a quality draft of nine Inglis Classic yearlings by up and coming sires from Southern Highlands nursery Rheinwood Pastoral.

Deep Field is a young sire with big potentialYoung sires on an upward spiral can offer amazing opportunities for the canny investor and the Rheinwood draft is entirely sired by up and comers with potential for real upside.

Their draft of nine includes three by Deep Field, two by Rubick and one each by Dissident and Wandjina, with a further two youngsters in the Highway Session by Eurozone and Super One.

Deep Field may well be the sleeper on the first season sires list with three nice winners (Hawker Hurricane, Roman Wolf, Cosmic Force, plus stakes-placed Spaceboy) already from just 13 runners and the promise of big numbers to emerge in the back end of the season as his progeny begin to mature.

His sire Northern Meteor really hit his straps in the latter part of his first season at stud with Group I horses Romantic Touch and Zoustar showing their hand at the Brisbane Winter Carnival to run the quinella in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Classic. From that point it was onwards and upwards for Northern Meteor, who was the Champion First Season Sire of 2012/2013.

Encosta de Lago's brilliant son Rubick is also showing real promise with two metro winners and three stakes horses f rom his 15 runners so far. From the family of champion sire Redoute's Choice, Rubick increased his average at Magic Millions last month on the previous year which is a good indication his stock are pleasing their trainers.

Dissident and Wandjina both have stakes horses to their credit and at this time of year it takes only one horse to turn around the fortunes of a young stallion and both have had some nice trial horses in the pipeline in recent weeks offering the potential for game changing racetrack success.
