Now is Fiesta’s time to shine

Breednet - Saturday February 9
Star filly Fiesta (I Am Invincible x Now Now) shone brightly at Warwick Farm, bravely running past Golden Slipper winner Estijaab to win the $1million Inglis Sprint.

FiestaThe win was the best moment of Fiesta's career according to Star Thoroughbreds' Denise Martin.

"It's outstanding," Martin said.

"She cost $150,000 at the Classic Yearling Sale.

"We thought she was the buy not only of the year but probably of the decade."

She also highlighted that the best may be yet to come.

"She was an amazing buy and I'm sure as a three-year-old she has developed sufficiently to go to Group 1 heights."

Trainer Chris Waller was thrilled to win the race and was proud of Fiesta.

"She's such a versatile filly," Waller said.

"She raced as an early two-year-old through to a Golden Slipper.

"She raced successfully as an early three-year-old and now has done it again as a late three-year-old.

Waller was quick to give a lot of credit to Denise Martin.

"A typical Denise Martin product," he said.

"She buys a really good product, they run early and keep running."

The trainer also enjoyed the initiative of a big raceday and the $1million sprint.

"These big money races, they bring the people here, it's what gets people watching at home," he said.

"That's what this sport is all about."

The timing of the win was also significant for Fairhill Farm's Mike and Debbie O'Donnell, breeders and vendors of Fiesta, as they yesterday announced they will be selling Now Now, the dam of Fiesta at the 2019 Inglis Chairman's sale.

There are 20 yearlings by I Am Invincible in the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
