Debut Win for Inglis Classic Sale-Topper

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 20
Astute bloodstock agent Carmel Size has a great eye for a yearling and looks to have unearthed another promising horse with a sparkling debut victory at Randwick on Wednesday for Classique Legend, who topped the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Classique Legend as a yearlingA dashing grey gelding trained by Les Bridge, Classique Legend was an easy barrier trial winner at Hawkesbury on February 8 for Kerrin McEvoy, who retained the ride for race day.

Sent out favourite in the 1100 metre maiden, Classique Legend stalked the leader and powered clear with a furlong to run doing his best work on the line to win by two and a half lengths clocking a brisk 1:02.82.

Yearlings purchased by Carmel Size for Hong Kong based clients invariably find their way to Hong Kong and include Not a Single Doubt six year-old Southern Legend, who also started his career with Les Bridge and was second in the Group I Hong Kong Gold Cup last Sunday.

Classique Legend was bought for $400,000 from the Tyreel Stud draft and is the second winner from well-bred Encosta de Lago mare Pinocchio, a winning sister to Champion Miler and five time Group I winner Racing to Win.
