Brazen Beau Fever Hits Premier

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 5
Glamour Godolphin colt Tassort might be only 50/50 to run in the Golden Slipper according to his trainer James Cummings, but the way the yearlings by his sire Brazen Beau have sold in the past two days at Inglis Premier you would think he had already won it.

Brazen BeauThe first son of I Am Invincible to go to stud, Brazen Beau was bought originally as a yearling by Grant Morgan's Ontrack Thoroughbreds for just $70,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and later sold to Darley when he was established as a Group I winner.

He retired to their Victorian base at a fee of $44,000 and had 17 first crop yearlings sell Premier last year at an average $114,706 with his best result a filly from Viking Turf Belle that made $210,000.

Fast forward 12 months and with one more session of Book One yearlings to be offered today, Brazen Beau has already had 14 yearlings average $290,000 to be the second leading sire by average behind only his sire I Am Invincible.

He has sired five of the top 10 lots including the $800,000 colt from Up In Lights that is the sale-topper so far and is the leading sire by aggregate with total sales of $4,060,000. See his yearlings and what they made here.

Brazen Beau has five entries for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and they are sure to be in demand next month.

Interestingly, this burst of commercial success for Brazen Beau seems to have caught a few by surprise as his fee was reduced last year from $44,000 to $38,500 and he covered 93 mares, which was down significantly from his previous books of 139, 122 and 131.

Brazen Beau is currently in the UK for Darley where he stands at a fee of just 7,000 pounds and his first Northern Hemisphere runners will appear this year.

Victoria may have lost Zoustar back to the Hunter Valley, but if Brazen Beau remains in the state he may well be a game changer.
