Brazen Beau First NH Runner a Winner

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 3
I Am Invincible's Group I winning son Brazen Beau has already proven his worth in Australia with smart winners Tassort and Accession and started his Northern Hemisphere stud career in a similar vein with his first winner overnight in the UK.

Brazen BeauThe Bryan Smart trained colt Proper Beau is the first Northern Hemisphere winner for Brazen Beau an gave his sire the perfect start when scoring a determined neck win over race favourite Alminoor in the five furlong juvenile contest.

"I was over the moon with that. Proper Beau always showed us a bit at home and I'd have been gutted if he wasn't in the first three. He hit the front and idled but came a long way clear with the second. I want to mind him. His next run will be in a conditions race and that'll tell us how good he is, and whether we have a Royal Ascot horse," said Smart.

Purchased for just 34,000 guineas at Tattersalls October as a yearling, Proper Beau is the fifth winner from stakes-placed Pivotal mare Olivia Grace.

The second crop Australian yearlings by Brazen Beau has been very popular at the sales this year particularly at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale where 17 of them averaged $285,294.

He stands at Darley's UK base of Dalham Hall this year at a fee of 7,000 pounds.

Brazen Beau had a slight fee reduction Australia last year dropping from $44,000 to $38,500 and covered 92 mares at Darley in Victoria, but will be in hot demand this year given his burgeoning success.
