Smart Missile Fee Set

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 4
Since transferring to Twin Hills Stud last year it's been nothing but blue sky for Smart Missile with a continuing slew of winners putting him in the century club this season, his first Group I winner and a record book of mares in 2018 to ensure his progress continues onwards and upwards.

Smart Missile will stand at a fee of $22,000A fast and precocious son of Fastnet Rock, Smart Missile was the Champion First Season Sire of 2015/2016 and has steadily built a solid record of success that saw him finish ninth on the Australian General Sires List by winners last year with 113 winners of over $6million in earnings.

Since August 1, it's been full steam ahead for Smart Missile, who is keeping elite company at the top of the leading sires by winners list with only I Am Invincible, Snitzel, Written Tycoon and Sebring siring more winners and he has achieved his century from notably less runners than his peers.

Among those winners are five stakes-winners headed by Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes winner Maid of Heaven and ill-fated Group II winner Smart Melody, so Smart Missile is not only getting quantity of winners, but also quality.

Smart Missile was super popular last spring covering 222 mares in his new home and is likely to be much in demand again as he races towards his best ever season of racetrack results.

His sale ring results have also been encouraging with 12 yearlings averaging $138,750 at the Magic Millions. He had eight yearlings sell at Magic Millions for $100,000 or more with a top price of $360,000.

His stock are popular with trainers and syndicators, consistently delivering the sort of results that make owners happy and his ability to upgrade a mare and produce a good type makes him a clear winner for broodmare owners.

In light of his burgeoning success and the overwhelming demand for him last season, Smart Missile will be priced at $22,000 inc. GST this year.

"Smart Missile is a very good stallion. His progeny win," Twin Hills' Olly Tait remarked.

"Over the past 12 months the quality of his offspring has also been on display. A number of Stakes winners over a range of distances and of course his first Group 1 winner, Maid Of Heaven.

"His stock are winning everywhere and he is tremendously good value, particularly when you compare his fee to those of other proven stallions."

Twin Hills is also the home to Odyssey Moon, one of Snitzel's best two year olds at stud. Odyssey Moon's eldest progeny are foals, a selection of which will be sold at the upcoming weanling sales. Odyssey Moon's fee will be unchanged in 2019 at $8,800 (inc GST).
