Invincible Colt Wins G2 Sires Produce

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 25
The Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday was won by talented I Am Invincible colt Strasbourg, a $750,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Yarraman Park draft.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt won the $75,000 Max Lees 2YO Classic at Newcastle on debut last December and was then second to Accession in the $500,000 Inglis Nursery.

$750,000 Inglis Easter purchase StrasbourgPlaced in two of his next four starts in Group races, Strasbourg found himself pitted against Brazen Beau colt Accession again in the Sires Produce, but this time had the upper hand when scoring a neck win with another I Am Invincible colt in Garibaldi holding on for third after leading.

"He really quickened when I asked him, I had the right horse under me," said winning rider Tommy Berry.

"He let down really well. It gives me a lot of pleasure to ride winners for China Horse Club and Henry Field (Newgate) and his partners."

Strasbourg was bought by China Horse Club / Newgate Farm / WinStar Farm and has put together the tidy overall record of two wins and three seconds from just seven starts with prizemoney in excess of $448,000.

Although not entered for the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) next month, connections will monitor the colt this week and make a decision as to whether a late entry may be paid.

Bred by Yarraman Park in partnership, Strasbourg is the first living foal of Group II placed Danish Spy, a half-sister by Dane Shadow to stakes-winner Forest Spy.

Yarraman Park sold a full brother to Strasbourg at Magic Millions this year for $300,000 to James Harron Bloodstock and Danish Spy is back in foal again to I Am invincible.

Strasbourg is the 47th stakes-winner for Yarraman Park's super sire I Am Invincible and is his 28th Australian stakes-winner this season.
