Redoute's Choice Filly Captures Lancashire Oaks

John Gosden had the perfect lead in to Enable's victory in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes when Sheikh Hamdan's Redoute's Choice filly Enbihaar gave the champion trainer a record eighth victory in the Group II Lancashire Oaks at Haydock.

Enbihaar avenged her last start defeat by Dramatic Queen in the Group III Bronte Cup Fillies' Stakes at York by having that daughter of Kitten's Joy a neck astern on Saturday.

Winning rider Dane O'Neill told Sporting Life: "She's a tough, tough filly. If you looked at the race again the last day (at York), (if it had been) over a shorter trip, she was the winner then as well - but just got caught close home really.


"I spoke to Mr Gosden this morning, and we had an open plan. We said we'd jump well - which we didn't do! Then we'd probably follow along, if no one wanted to make it.

"Obviously, Richard Kingscote's filly (Dramatic Queen) has won over further, so he was keen for it to be a test, and he jumped positively. I'm not sure, whether we step up in grade - Mr Gosden and Sheikh Hamdan will have a talk about that. I wouldn't say her job is done (yet) - I'm sure we can get better out of her."

Winner of a Listed race at Goodwood on May 4, Enbihaar advances her record to 3 wins, 1 second and 1 third from 6 starts.

A €500,000 purchase by Shadwell Farms out of the Haras du Mezeray draft at the August Arquana Yearling Sale, Enbihaar is a half-sister to stakes placegetters Silent Attack (Dream Ahead) and King Bolete (Cape Cross) out of the Trempolino mare Chanterelle who is a sister to multiple Gr III winner Cox Orange and a half-sister to Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Amonita (Anabaa) out of the top-class racemare Spectacular Joke (Spectacular Bid).
