Fast Start

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 19
We've had just 18 days of racing this season and our competitive class of second season sires are putting winners on the board, but one has made a particularly fast start to season 2019/2020.

RubickCoolmore's blue-blooded Encosta de Lago sire Rubick has flown the gates posting five winners from 16 runners, a statistic sure to excite the many breeders with mares booked to him this spring.

Rubick was the busiest sire in Australia last year covering 263 mares at a fee of $17,600 and has had a fee increase to $38,500 for this spring off the back of his impressive results last season with his first crop runners including Group II winner Yes Yes Yes plus five further stakes horses and another seven metropolitan winners.

Rubick was not a Group I winner, which on the Coolmore roster is something unusual as they only stand the very best horses, however being from the family of Redoute's Choice gives Rubick a pedigree putting him well into the A grade division and the decision to take a punt on a well bred speed horse looks like being a good one.

Encosta de Lago was an amazing stallion for Coolmore for many years and while Rubick has a very long way to go to fill those shoes, he's certainly giving it his best shot.
