Stable Hill Thoroughbreds and Cornerstone Stud Join Forces

Media Release - Friday June 1
In an exciting boost for the South Australian breeding industry, Stable Hill Thoroughbred's has recently signed off on a deal to stand two stallions at their 300 acre property at Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills.

Stable Hill proprietor Owen Inglis is looking forward to building his breeding business after successfully establishing an association with Cornerstone Stud. This initially signifies standing proven sire Face Value (Red Ransom) alongside the exciting young prospect Shrewd Rhythm (Danehill Dancer).

"We have been building our broodmare band and have been investing in stallions so when the opportunity came to widen the scope of our business in association with Cornerstone, we jumped at the opportunity," Mr Inglis explained.

Owen Inglis has recently returned to his home state of South Australia after running a manufacturing business in China and Hong Kong. Stable Hill, located at the Ashwood Estate property and also home of Sidewood and Stable Hill Wines, is managed by very well respected horseman John Dunn. Along with being a licensed trainer, Mr Dunn has also had extensive experience working with stallions at Adbrook Park, Dibden Park and Toorak Park Stud in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.

Bred on the same Danehill / Canny Lad cross as Redoute's Choice, Shrewd Rhythm (pictured) was one of the fastest sprinters of his generation. After winning the Blue Diamond Prelude, defeating Champion 2YO Zizou, Shrewd Rhythm was placed in the Blue Diamond Stakes before claiming the time honoured Vain Stakes as a 3 year old.

"Speed Danehill line stallions really work and when you overlay that with a female line that traces directly back to a breed shaper such as Selene, who is his sixth dam, Shrewd Rhythm is a good looking stallion with first class credentials," Inglis said.

Face Value has produced 31 winners so far this racing season including high class gallopers Hidden Value and Group Three placed Monica Kate. He is the ideal breed to race prospect for local breeders.

According to Sam Hayes from Cornerstone Stud the exclusive alliance with Ashwood Estate was timely for a number of reasons.

"South Australia needed another stallion farm and Stable Hill will have our full support. We are retaining our ownership in both stallions however with the impending sale of David Hayes Lindsay Park property we needed to downsize our stallion roster in order to cater for the mare numbers exclusively on our neighbouring Cornerstone property," Hayes explained.

Shrewd Rhythm will be standing at a fee of $4,950 inc. GST and Face Value will be standing at $2,200 inc. GST this upcoming season.
