New Group I winner for Starspangledbanner

Tara Madgwick - Sunday September 29
Standing at Rosemont Stud in Victoria this spring, Starspangledbanner added a new Group I winner to his resume overnight in the UK where speedy two year-old filly Millisle took out the Group I Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.

StarspangledbannerThe Jessica Harrington trained Millisle has been super consistent all season and finished her year with a career best performance, surging away at the finish of the six furlong sprint to win by more than a length with Shane Foley in the saddle.

A homebred for Stonethorn Stud Farm, Millisle has three wins and two second from five starts.

"As soon as Millisle hit the rising ground she lengthened her stride," said her trainer.

"At the start of the year I thought she was going to be our first two-year-old but she started to grow and got weak on me. She has always showed a lot of speed and before the race Shane (Foley) was looking towards the Commonwealth Cup but he said she will definitely stay seven and might get a mile."

Millisle is a half-sister to stakes-winning stayer Ithoughtitwasover and is the ninth winner from good producer Green Castle.

Millisle is the second Group I winner for Starspangledbanner, who stands at Rosemont Stud this spring at a fee of $22,000.
