Media Release - Tuesday October 22

Day 2 saw the final 181 two-year-olds sprint down the straight of Te Rapa Racecourse, concluding the NZB Ready to Run Sale Breeze Ups.

Following on from yesterday’s Dead 5 track conditions, the rail was moved in 4 metres and the track remaind a Dead 6 throughout the day.

The top ten Breeze Up times for both days are as follows:

MONDAY 21 OCTOBER

The quickest time of 10.52 was shared by a Real Impact colt (Lot 277) from the Woburn Farm draft and a Showcasing colt (Lot 159) from Riversley Park.

Lot 182 (Ocean Park) and Lot 121 (Tavistock) from the Ohukia Lodge draft breezing up.A smart Breeze Up came from Heat 108, which included Kilmore Farm's Per Incanto gelding (Lot 222) from a successful black type family breezing up in 10.92. Following closely was a Dundeel colt (Lot 217) galloping in 10.93 from the draft of Phoenix Park.

Heat 109 from the Woburn Farm draft saw another smart Breeze Up completed in Day 2. Lot 275 is a Tavistock colt out of Group One-winning mare Banchee. This colt breezed up in 10.46 and is closely related to Champion filly Katie Lee. Continuing the trend was Lot 26 by Showcasing out of stakes-winning mare Lamington Vegas. This colt breezed in at 10.49.

Ohaupo-based Riversley Park presented the quickest performers on Day 2 in Heat 102, after a gelding by Headwater (Lot 144) breezed up at a time of 10.30. Following closely behind was Lot 128, a colt by Per Incanto out of stakes-winning mare Princess Annaliese in 10.33.

The second fastest duo was Heat 191 from the Charma Heights draft. Lot 158 is a colt by Pour Moi out of Safari Sunset, breezing up in 10.45. Another quick run (Lot 315), by a Falkirk colt breezed up in 10.47.

NZB’s Bloodstock Sales Manager Danny Rolston was pleased with the outcome across the two days of Breeze Ups.

“The quality of two-year-olds that breezed up over the past two days has been outstanding and it was great to see an impressive representation of both New Zealand and international sires on the track.

"Full credit goes to the vendors and jockeys for presenting and breezing their horses up in a professional manner.”

This year’s Breeze Ups will be aired lot-by-lot on Trackside TV in New Zealand and Racing.com in Australia. Breeze Up To-Air Times are as follows:
