Outstanding G1-winning mare Unforgotten (Fastnet Rock) headlines early entries for the Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
The select sale, to be held at Riverside Stables on the evening on Friday May 8, will again be conducted under a 0% sales commission structure.

G1 Australian Oaks winner Unforgotten (pictured) is considered one of the most desirable breeding prospects in Australasia.
A star race mare, Unforgotten’s G1 win in the Oaks was supplemented by a pair of G2 wins, as well as multiple G1 placings, including an unlucky third in the G1 Epsom Handicap behind Hartnell.
She is back in work for champion trainer Chris Waller and will likely resume in the G2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 28.
“It’s easy to talk up a horse who has won at G1 level but when people see her she’s got size, she’s got strength, she’s got the temperament and she’s got those bloodlines that everyone’s desperate for and that’s the combination of Fastnet Rock and Galileo bloodlines that have done the job,’’ Waller said.
“She’s a great horse to train because she’s got power, she could cope with her early life of being a 3YO in G1 races and backed it up as a 4YO in WFA races. She made a name for herself.’’
The G1 performers Arabian Gold (in foal to I Am Invincible) and Volks Lightning (in foal to Zoustar) – as well as six-time Stakes winner Celebrity Dream (in foal to American Triple Crown winner Justify) and G2-winning Foxwedge mare Noire – are also among early entries for the sale.
These early entries have set the scene for another outstanding edition of the Chairman’s Sale, which in 2019 was the most successful of its kind in Australasia.
Not only did it achieve the highest average ($422,455) and clearance rate (93%), it also produced the most expensive pregnant mare to sell at public auction in the southern hemisphere in 2019 in Maastricht, who sold to Coolmore and James Bester Bloodstock for $2,250,000, having been offered through the Newgate Consignment on behalf of owners Ananda Krishnan and Alan Bell.
Maastricht was one of two mares to sell for $2,000,000 or more at The Chairman’s Sale, with Tom Magnier purchasing multiple G1 winner Srikandi from the Kitchwin Hills draft for $2m.
At the conclusion of the 2019 breeding stock sales season, the Inglis Chairman’s Sale was responsible for three of the top four prices achieved for pregnant mares in Australasia at auction during the calendar year, while high-class race mare Aloisia sold for $1.2m to become a fourth $1m+ lot at the sale.
Noire, a G2 winner of almost $600,000 for Chris Waller, is a half sister to the dam of the Aquis Farm-owned G1 Golden Slipper fancy Global Quest, from the family of star performers Timbourina and Media.
Waller said: “She’s a very good horse Noire. She never had a lot of luck in the G1s and I’m really disappointed she has not yet got a G1 placing at least because she really does deserve that.’’
