Spendthrift Australia set to offer two colts at Inglis Classic

Breednet - Thursday February 6

Spendthrift Australia will have two quality colts heading through the ring at the 2020 Inglis Classic Sale, offered through the expert drafts of Widden Stud and KBL Thoroughbreds on Monday 10th February.

Swear x Patricia's GemThe first colt to go under the hammer for Spendthrift will be Widden Stud’s Lot 368. By the farm’s very own young stallion and son of legendary Redoute’s Choice, Swear, he is out of Spendthrift’s Group 1 placed American import Patricia’s Gem.

Patricia’s Gem has already thrown plenty of talent with three winners to date, including Group 2 placegetter at Moonee Valley Mark the Horse.

This colt’s first three dams are all stakes performers in their own right as well as stakes producers, creating a family flooded with international black-type.

Swear impressed breeders with his first crop of foals in 2018 having left consistent types full of quality. This colt is no different and is in the same mould as his sire being a well-balanced horse with a strong shoulder to get over plenty of ground.

Lot 368 will be available for parades and inspections at Widden Stud’s Barn J.

The second colt that Spendthrift will be offering for sale is Lot 375 through the draft of KBL Thoroughbreds. He provides an exciting opportunity to tap into the progeny of Spendthrift Farm’s Champion USA Sire Into Mischief.

Into Mischief became the first US sire with 200 winners in a single year, while also leading the general sires table, two-year-old winners table and three-year-old winners table in 2019.

Into Mischief x Platinum MineThis colt is out of Spendthrift’s dual American winner Platinum Mine who is a full sister to the stakes placed Shadow Raider and a half-sister to two tough Group 3-winning gallopers California Flag and Cambiocorsa.

He is already a half-brother to two winners, while also descending from European Horse of the Year Roaring Lion, making this another exceptional family filled with black-type.

Lot 375 will be available for parades and inspections at KBL Thoroughbreds Barn J.
