Blueblood Godolphin Stakes-Winner Highlights Lonhro Family

In 2012, Godolphin took the decision to send Lonhro’s full sister O’Giselle to stud in the Northern Hemisphere and the move has produced two stakes-winners including Zakouski, who won the Group II Zabeel Mile at Meydan overnight.

A four year-old Shamardal gelding trained by Charlie Appleby, Zakouski scored a tenacious win in the one mile turf feature taking his record to three wins from four starts.



He is the third stakes-winner for O’Giselle joining Australian bred Group III winner Albrecht, who was her second foal, and also exciting prospect King’s Command, a Northern Hemisphere bred three year-old by Dubawi this year that won the Group III Saint-Cloud Prix Thomas Byron last year at two.

Also trained by Charlie Appleby, King’s Command has had two wins from four starts.

O’Giselle is now back in Australia for Godolphin and had a colt last spring by Shooting to Win and is now in foal to Exceed and Excel.

The Lonhro family has been making news again this year in Australia as star Kiwi three year-old Catalyst is the latest Group I winner to emerge from this celebrated stakes dynasty.

Catalyst is from Evana, whose dam Miss Trump is a half-sister to Lonhro being one of seven winners from former slick two year-old Shadea, who has spawned quite a legacy of success.
