Six for Denman

Mark Smith - Saturday May 24
Bargain basement buy Fitocracy opened his winning account in the James Thredgold Jewellers Hcp (1300m) at Morphettville Parks on Saturday to become the sixth winner from the first crop of Denman.

Improving on his debut third at Gawler ten days ago, Fitocracy (pictured as a yearling) cleared away to defeat Celebrity Tycoon (Written Tycoon) by 3 ¼ lengths with One Clear Day (Bernardini) a further 9 ¼ lengths back in third.

The Jon O'Conner-trained colt was purchased by McPhee Racing for just $15,000 from the Attunga Stud draft at the second session of the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling sale.

He is the first foal of the Sydney winning Anabaa (USA) mare Reine de Jeu a half-sister to stakes-placed Sunnah (Zabeel) and to the dam of Group III Adrian Knox Stakes winner Full Of Spirit (Flying Spur).

The dam of Reine de Jeu, Quiz Queen (Defensive Play) is an unraced half-sister to Group 1 NZ Derby winner St Reims and Group 1 McKinnon Stakes winner Champagne (Zabeel).
