Interesting Juveniles Shine at Trials

Seven juvenile trials were conducted at Rosehill on Tuesday morning with some interesting winners including a filly that has already achieved fame in the sale ring when becoming the most expensive yearling by Lonhro sold in Australia.

Kangarilla Joy as a yearlingThe Peter and Paul Snowden trained Kangarilla Joy was bought by US agent John Moynihan for $840,000 at Inglis Easter and runs in the colours of US based Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables.

Bred by Stuart Ramsey's Turangga Farm, Kangarilla Joy is from Midnight Joy, a winning Zeditave daughter of Group I VATC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Midnight Fever.

Bred to go quickly, Kangarilla Joy did best in a competitive finish to her trial taking her 900 metre heat by a short half head in 54.9 seconds.

Kangarilla Joy is among the second acceptors for the Golden Slipper and is also entered for feature juvenile races at The Championships meeting at Randwick in April.

Another impressive winner was More Than Ready (USA) filly Always Allison, who won easily on debut for the Chris Waller stable at the start of the month at Warwick Farm and was kept ticking over here with a three and a half length win in 54.8 seconds.

King's Troop as a yearlingThe fastest winner of the seven juvenile heats was the Gerald Ryan trained Redoute's Choice colt King's Troop, who clocked 53.2 seconds in scoring by a long neck in the familiar black and yellow diamonds of Arrowfield Stud.

King's Troop was a $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Ryan from the Arrowfield draft and runs for Arrowfield and Alan Jones' Belford Productions.

It's not hard to see why Ryan was keen to train the colt from metro winning Royal Academy (USA) mare Royal Snippets as he is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Ryan's former stable star and now leading sire Snitzel.

King's Troop is not among second acceptors for the Golden Slipper, but his well-bred stablemate Deploy is and he showed ability in coasting home to win his trial by two lengths in 54.2 seconds.

A $450,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Segenhoe Stud from the Torryburn Stud draft, Deploy is by champion sire Fastnet Rock from former star mare Crimson Reign and runs for a syndicate that includes Segenhoe, his breeders Torryburn Stud and David Raphael's Stallion Racing.
