Vancouver 3YO Goes Two for Two

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 8

A runaway debut victory for Ice in Vancouver at Scone last month was followed up by an equally impressive win at the same venue on Tuesday.

The Cody Morgan trained gelding was a hot favourite for the Benchmark 58 event over 1150m and duly thrashed a big field of 14 runners to win by four and a half lengths.

Ice in Vancouver has been so impressive in his two wins to date that connections are considering the possibility of a tilt at the $1million Kosciuszco if there is any interest from slot holders.

Given Yes Yes Yes won The Everest as a three year-old last year, why not a Kosciuszco run for a talented country three year-old.

Retained to race by his breeder, Ice in Vancouver is the third winner from three foals to race out of stakes-placed Bradbury’s Luck mare Skating on Ice.

He comes with an interesting pedigree featuring some serious line breeding.

Skating in Luck’s sire Bradbury’s Luck is from Group I winner Skating, who is also the grand-dam of Vancouver, so Ice in Vancouver has a double cross of not only champion sire Danehill, but also blue hen Skating.

Vancouver is a young stallion heading in the right direction as we move through spring and stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $30,250.
