Golden Slipper Winner Farnan to Run for Aquis in Everest

Media Release - Friday September 18

As one of the fastest winners of the time-honoured Gr.1 Golden Slipper in recent years, the son of Not A Single Doubt will, by agreement between Kia Ora Stud, Phoenix Thoroughbreds and Aquis, race in the Aquis slot in this year’s $15m The TAB Everest on October 17 at Royal Randwick.

“Aquis is delighted to continue its partnership with Kia Ora in allocating Aquis’ Everest slot to Farnan,” stated Aquis’ Managing Director Shane McGrath.

Golden Slipper winner Farnan will run in the Everest for Aquis

The highest Timeform rated juvenile of his generation, Farnan created a huge impression on debut, winning by almost five lengths before capturing the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic at his second start.

Resuming in the Autumn, Farnan was simply dominant, winning the Gr.2 Silver Slipper, Gr.2 Todman Stakes and Gr.1 Golden Slipper in emphatic fashion for trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

“The ownership group shares the confidence of Gai and Adrian that Farnan, last season’s Golden Slipper winner and Champion 2YO, will prove himself one of the fastest 3YOs of this season and deserves his place in this year’s Everest field,” enthused McGrath.

“As such, Farnan will bypass the Golden Rose and be aimed at Australia’s, globally recognised, premier sprint race.”

The victory of Yes Yes Yes in the 2019 running of the race, showed that the 3YOs are more than capable of taking on the older sprinters in the world’s richest race on turf, and with a quality field already starting to be assembled for the race, the next four weeks heading into the race will be a tremendous period for all concerned.

“It is a huge thrill for the stable that last year’s Golden Slipper winner Farnan will be aimed towards the world’s richest race on turf, the 2020 The TAB Everest, where we are confident Farnan will do an outstanding job for his racing partners,” stated Adrian Bott.
