Overnight Stakes Double for Pride of Dubai

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 2

Exciting young sire Pride of Dubai was in hot form overnight with two new stakes-winners in Zaffy’s Pride and Telepatic Glances  that saluted in Listed races in Ireland and Italy.

The Listed Star Appeal Stakes (7f) at Dundalk went the way of progressive filly Zaffy’s Pride, who broke the ice last start at her third outing and kept up the good work when scoring by a length and a quarter.

Trained by Jessica Harrington and ridden by Tom Madden, Zaffy’s Pride was bought for just 13,000 euros at the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale last year so has been an inspired purchase.

“She picked up really well and hit the line strongly,” said Tom Madden.

“The trip was a bit of a worry but she hit the line well over six furlongs last time and I was confident enough she'd get seven. The extra furlong brought out the best in her.”

Zaffy’s Pride is the best of six winners from stakes-placed Singspiel mare Zaafran.

Keeping her unbeaten record intact when making it two wins in as many starts was the Endo Botti trained Telepatic Glances who beat Territories filly Gartoria by four lengths in the Listed Premio Coolmore (7 ½ f) at San Siro.

Purchased for 16,000 euros from the Goffs Sportsman Yearling Sale , Telepatic Glances is a half-sister to stakes-placed Glimmies and is from winning Hurrican Run mare Caveran, who comes from the family of Group I winners Earthlight, Mandaean and Wavering.

Zaffy’s Pride and Telepatic Glances are the third and fourth European stakes-winners for Pride of Dubai joining Star of Emaraaty and Fancy Man.

A dual Group I winning two year-old by Street Cry from the family of champion sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac, Pride of Dubai was the Champion Australian First Crop Sire last season and stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $38,500.
