Pride of Dubai Retired to Coolmore

The only dual Group I winning juvenile colt in Australia last season, Pride of Dubai has run his last race with Peter and Paul Snowden informing Racing NSW Stewards on Monday morning that the star son of outstanding sire Street Cry (IRE) has been retired.

Pride of Dubai returns to scale after the Sires Produce StakesHe disappointed when resuming from a spell of 44 weeks to finish unplaced in the Group III ATC Eskimo Prince Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Bruising to the hind fetlock, an identical injury to the one which sidelined him out of the spring carnival, was discovered on Sunday, resulting in his retirement.

A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Pride of Dubai was foaled and raised at Coolmore and will join their star studded stallion roster in the spring having been purchased last year by a syndicate involving Coolmore, China Horse Club and partners.

Pride of Dubai retires with the overall record of just five starts for two wins, a second and a third with prizemoney topping $1.3 million, his victories coming in Group I races – the MRC Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) and ATC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m).

A colt with a serious international stallion's pedigree, Pride of Dubai is a half-brother to stakes-winner Al Aneed from stakes-placed Danehill mar Al Anood, a half-sister to Group I winner Rafha, the dam of champion European sire Invincible Spirit.
