Frank, who is well known and highly regarded in the Australian horse industry has joined Lustre Lodge after a long stint with the Victorian based Eliza Park Farm. He comes to Lustre Lodge with his partner and equally experienced horse person Helen Branigan.
As a boutique broodmare farm with a focus on the client experience, it was
important for us to have a person that not only has unquestionable horse skills
and experience, but is a person who can communicate with our clients and make
them feel welcome.
Frank is the right person to help guide Lustre Lodge and our
client's horses into the future.
Frank has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the horse industry where he started out as a jockey in 1975 which included a successful association with legendary trainer George Hanlon in Melbourne.
Frank has gained a lifetime of stud experience working at studs around Australia as well as having overseas stints in England, The United States, Ireland and New Zealand. He has significant experience in pre-training and yearling preparation some of which was learnt abroad at Japan's Shadai Farm in the 1990's.
Using his experience Frank has been active in mentoring others as a lecturer in equine studies, which includes topics such as horse nutrition, stud breeding, horse skills and most significantly for Lustre Lodge, the preparation of yearlings for public sales.
Frank is quite rightly proud that he is only one of three people to successfully manage the champion race mare Leilani to attain pregnancy and deliver a live foal. He is also a recipient of the VCAH Glenormiston Noel Smith Prize for personal achievement.
