Extreme Choice Colt wins $100,000 Inglis Xtra Bonus

Media Release - Sunday December 14

What began as a bold new initiative in August 2024, the Inglis Xtra Bonus Series has rapidly grown into one of the most lucrative racehorse ownership incentive schemes in Australian racing history.

The victory this afternoon at Moe of 3YO colt Firerated (Extreme Choice), trained by Alex Rae, means than $4.5 million has now been won by eligible connections in Inglis Xtra bonuses.

In what was a hotly contested Maiden, the $275,000 Inglis Classic buy for Matt Vella Bloodstock, offered by Kingstar Farm, defeated Inglis Easter graduate In’kantosstar.

The Inglis Race Series continues to deliver lucrative returns for more owners and trainers, with 50 $100,000 bonuses available to be won through the racing season rewarding Inglis graduates who are paid up for the series win more prizemoney, more often.

Since its inception, horses owned by more than 401 individual owners have been successful in Xtra Bonus races.

Today’s result is the latest success story in a season that has seen bonuses claimed by a broad cross-section of the industry, highlighting the depth and reach of the series.

In total more than 2500 owners have been represented with eligible runners, more than 100 individual trainers have had runners and over 240 individual eligible horses have run for the lucrative purses on offer.

Part-owner Paul Lofitis, in whose colours Firerated races, was delighted with the win.

“Alex (Rae) has a good opinion of the colt and we targeted this race because of the bonus,” said Lofitis.

“Evidently a few others had the same plan as it ended up a very strong race in terms of the quality of horse represented and the stables with runners.

“The $100,000 bonus was a huge incentive and my partners and I are delighted to win it.

“I have had an excellent relationship with Inglis for a long time and results like this are very satisfying.”

Inglis CEO Sebastian Hutch said the milestone reflected Inglis’ commitment to reinvesting in its participants.

“Surpassing $4.5 million in Inglis Xtra Bonus wins is a significant milestone for the Inglis Race Series,” Hutch said.

“The objective was to see more owners and trainers winning more Inglis prizemoney, more often and the results speak for themselves.

“We consistently get good feedback on the series and the response by the market to it since its inception has been overwhelmingly positive.’’

Firerated was a $275,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Kingstar Farm.

With an Xtra Bonus race on almost weekly throughout the year, Hutch expects the initiative to continue generating significant returns for clients across all levels of Australian racing this season and beyond.

To be eligible, a horse must be an Inglis graduate from 2024 or beyond, aged three years or older, paid up for the Inglis Race Series and victorious in a designated eligible race.
