Thoroughbred Sport Horse Classes Come to Sydney Jump Club Championships

Media Release - Monday December 7

Last weekend’s Sydney Jump Club Championships were held at their Clarendon grounds which are a stone’s throw from the Hawkesbury racecourse, but the thoroughbreds performing at this venue were showing their talents at jumping up off the ground rather than galloping across it!

Class 11c TSHA 65-70cm Maiden class sponsored by Breednet.com.au

Congratulations to Charly and Katy Robinson-Smith who between them have had a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Slipper and Maiden classes on the weekend!

Charly and Katy Robinson-Smith had a great day in the TSHA classes.

The winning horse, six year-old So You Think gelding, Sytus aka GB Jazz It Up, has some famous relatives as his mother is a three-quarter sister to Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winner Viewed.

He was a $155k Inglis Premier yearling purchase from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft, who started life with Triple Crown Syndications and Snowden Racing then went to Jeremy Sylvester at Cessnock.

Sytus was a $155,00 yearling, whose uncle is the 2008 Melbourne Cup winner Viewed!

Four minor placings from 21 starts was not good enough to keep him in training, but his showjumping career looks promising as he only finished racing in May of this year so has made a swift transition to the jump ring.

Well done to all the placegetters and riders

Afro was bred in NZ, sold for $140,000 at 2007 NZB Select Yearling Sale before being imported to Australia. Racing wasn’t for Afro and from 11 starts, he never threatened and ran last at five of them - he wasn’t fast on the racetrack, but Astro loves to go fast over the showjumps!
