Fifth in last Saturday’s Group I WATC Kingston Town Classic, grand old warrior Gailo Chop (Fr) has been retired from racing at age 10.

The $4.4million earner has been a top class campaigner for OTI Racing winning three Group I races in Australia – the ATC Ranvet Stakes, VRC Mackinnon Stakes and MRC Caulfield Stakes.
 



He retires sound and will continue his career in the equestrian arena.

"Suffice to say he'll be going into an environment which will give him a fair bit of prominence going forward," OTI Racing co-director Terry Henderson told The Age.

"It will still be in competition.

"It's great when you can retire a horse after seven-and-a-half years on the track and you're very comfortable that he's going out a sound horse who really still likes to be amongst it.


"He's been a great horse."
