Hours after Winx made her stunning return to competition on Saturday, her dam Vegas Showgirl delivered a half-sister to the champion mare.
Bred by John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds, the filly is also a sister to the unbeaten El Divino who runs in Saturday's Run To The Rose at Rosehill, and an un-named two-year-old colt that sold for $2.3 million at the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter sale and to be trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
Peter O'Brien, general manager at Segenhoe Stud, has seen all of Vegas Showgirl's offspring as foals and rates this filly highly.
"El Divino was as good a looking foal you would want to see but this filly is as good - I know it's easy to say but she is very similar," O'Brien said.
"She is the same size, big, leggy and with similar markings.
"It was a textbook foaling and the timing was incredible after Vegas Showgirl being named broodmare of the year and Winx doing what she does best earlier in the day."
O'Brien said Camilleri does not have a daughter of the mare and will not be selling the 2016 filly.
"It (breeding) is a business for him but he will retain this one," O'Brien said. "He usually looks to sell the first foals out of mares until they prove themselves,
"He hasn't decided on a stallion for this season. Obviously Snitzel is in the mix and horses like Exceed And Excel or Lonhro.
"John is always thinking a couple of years ahead and a Lonhro filly will make it easier to mate being free of Danehill blood."
The 2016 filly is the sixth foal for the 14-year-old Vegas Showgirl.
