Third Group Winner for Maurice

Arrowfield Stud shuttler Maurice (Jpn) posted a third Group winner from his first crop of Japanese runners when Rooks Nest won the Group III Chunichi Sports Sho Falcon Stakes (1400m) over the weekend.

Trained by Tamio Hamada, Rooks Nest scored a head win taking his overall record to two wins and two seconds from five starts.
 



Rooks Nest is the best of two winners from Villa, a Deep Impact daughter of English Group III winner Summitville, who was also third in the Group I Epsom Oaks.



The first Australian runners for Maurice include highly promising stakes-placed colt Mazu as well as winners Conrad and Balmaurice.
