Debut 2YO Winner for Vancouver

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 14

Champion trainer Chris Waller produced a promising debut two year-old winner by Vancouver at the metro meeting at Hawkesbury on Wednesday with Aslav carrying the James Harron Bloodstock colours to victory.

Well educated following three barrier trials this year, Aslav tracked the leaders for Hugh Bowman and surged home between runners to score a three-quarter length win in the 1100m maiden that was a soft one on the line.

Stable representative Charlie Duckworth indicated Aslav was the first winner for the stable in the James Harron colours and the future looks bright for the son of Vancouver with the Queensland winter carnival a possibility.

“We have lofty expectations for him and it should be onwards an upwards from here,” said Duckworth.

Aslav was an eye-catcher at the 2020 Inglis Ready 2Race Sale selling for $260,000.

A $260,000 Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale purchase for James Harron Bloodstock from the JCS Thoroughbreds draft, he was a successful pinhook having been sourced from the Cornerstone Stud draft from Inglis Premier for $80,000.

Bred by a Cornerstone breeding partnership, Aslav is the second winner from well bred import Anatole ((USA), a half-sister by Quiet American to US Group I winner Man from Wicklow and Group II winner Wild Heart Dancing.
