$1.2million Invincible Filly to Gai and Adrian

Champion sire I Am Invincible had the top filly in the opening session of Magic Millions on Tuesday and followed up with the same on Wednesday when his glorious filly from Key sold for $1.2million.

Bred and consigned by Kia Ora Stud, the filly was bought by Knine Inc/Rising Sun Syndicate and will be trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, who also train her two year-old three-quarter brother I’m Ya Huckleberry.

A close second in the Group III ATC Breeders Plate ondebut, I’m Ya Huckleberry is one of the favourites for the Golden Slipper.

“We’re obviously looking for the best filly we can get from this whole catalogue for our owners from Japan,” said Kosi Kawakami of Rising Sun Syndicate.

“We looked at this horse and we fell in love with her. She’s the best. Obviously knowing her brother being trained by Gai and Adrian, they would be the best trainers to go for.

“We were both in love, so we just go harder and am happy to secure her.

“It’s a real honour to be able to buy a million-dollar filly from this catalogue. I’m really excited.”

Adrian Bott was thrilled to have I’m Ya Huckleberry’s sibling joining the stable.

“It’s a very current family, a family of so much Black Type depth and a family I know very well. We’ve got the three-quarter brother in training who we’ve got a very high opinion of,” he said.

“We’ve seen him on the racetrack on one occasion, so that automatically attracted us to her. Physically and the way she presented at this sale really made her a must-have for us.

“We were really fortunate we were able to partner up here on this filly and I must say we’re delighted we’ve been able to secure her.”

The star filly is the third foal of Group III placed Exceed and Excel mare Key, a grand-daughter of Champion NZ 3YO Filly Princess Coup, who has spawned a dynasty of Black Type performers.

Key was bought by Kia Ora Stud from the 2023 Magic Millions Strawberry Hill Stud Dispersal for $600,000 and was covered by I Am Invincible last spring after slipping to Anamoe.
