Although he was running on empty at the end, the admirable Eduardo ran the chasing pack off their legs in Saturday’s $1million Group 1 Doomben Ten Thousand (1200m).
Given a positive ride by Nash Rawiller, the fleet-footed 7yo son of Host (CHI) led at every call to defeat the fast-finishing Animal Kingdom (USA) gelding Wild Planet by a long-neck with the 7yo Fastnet Rock gelding The Harrovian a half-neck back in third.
Winning trainer Joe Pride said his dual Group 1 winner had earned a spell in the Queensland sunshine.

“He is a great horse. He got the job done. We came here as a bit of an afterthought. It is a testament to the quality he has.
“You don’t often see a horse that has so much speed have so much fight. He is a bulldog, he just keeps fighting.
“He will have a little break in Queensland. He seems to like it up here. He will have a break before the spring and look forward to what he can do next time around."
Eduardo advances his record to eight wins, three seconds and four thirds from 21 starts with earnings of 2,607,900.
Raced in partnership by his breeder Jane Kaufmann, Eduardo is the third winner from as many foals out of the unraced Fantastic Light (IRE) mare Blushing who has not been returned to the Stud Book since Eduardo was foaled in 2013.
Blushing is a granddaughter of the Group III QTC Lightning Handicap winner Peggy Ann.
Eduardo is the only Group 1 winner among the seven stakes-winners for Hussonet's Chilean-bred son Host (ARG), who died last year.
