Third Winner for Dandino

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Monday June 7

A high class genuine stayer by outstanding sire Dansili, Bombora Downs based Dandino (GB) was always going to come into his own as his progeny reached their classic season and two quick winners since the start of June has his supporters feeling optimistic.

Earlier this year back in January, the Mitchell Freedman trained gelding Adandiman became the first winner for his sire when scoring by three lengths at Geelong over 1400m and since the start of the month Quick ‘n’ Dandy and Savvy Dan have followed suit.

Trained by Archie Alexander, Quick ‘n’ Dandy was third on debut and followed up with a resounding three and three-quarter length win at Wangaratta last week over 1590m at his second start.

Quick ‘n’ Dandy runs in the same colours of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock as were carried by his sire Dandino, who they imported as a Cups contender with his best efforts being a second to Fawkner in the Caulfield Cup and a fifth to Fiorente in the Melbourne Cup.

Dandino delivered his third winner on Monday when Savvy Dan showed superior staying ability to win a 2200m maiden at Northam by a length at his third start.

From a first crop of just 35 foals, Dandino has had 12 runners with three winners and an additional four place-getters that will only improve with maturity.

A four time winner as a three year-old, Dandino ultimately found his best form as an older horse winning stakes races at four, five and six before finishing his career with a commanding victory in the Group III VRC Queens Cup at Flemington as an eight year-old.

Of his 37 starts, Dandino won or placed in 18 Group/Stakes races racing in seven countries, a glowing testament to his attitude and adaptability, which are highly desirable traits he is passing onto his progeny.

A genuine stayer with a great constitution, Dandino is by one of Danehill’s best European based sons in Dansili, who has sired close to 150 stakes-winners worldwide including imported Australian Group I winners Foreteller and Grand Marshal.

Dandino stands at a fee of $5,500 and for those breeders seeking to produce a stayer of the future he represents great quality and value.
